We are helping Emma Gootee collect masks for Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital in Nepal. Emma was a surgical intern there in 2016. She is now at Johns Hopkins University. Binod Dhakal, a hospital administrator reached out to Emma hoping her connections in the states would be able to help them in Nepal. The conditions relating to Covid-19 are dire. Emma and her mom, Joan want to help. Chitwan Medical College Teaching Hospital needs cloth masksfor the patients and family members of Covid-19 patients. In Nepal, the family members are responsible for providing meals and administering medicine to patients while they are in the hospital, including patients with Covid. At this time they do not have the appropriate PPE and when one person gets Covid, the entire family likely will get Covid. Reusable, sustainable cloth masks are the solution for them. They have reached out asking for our help!

Mask Option #1: We are asking for donations of high quality 2 layer cloth masks with filter pockets, elastic ear loops and nose wire. Crafting Change encourages the nose wire to be removable and not sewn in.

Mask Option #2: We are asking for donations of high quality 3 layer cloth masks with an internal 3rd layer of nonwoven spunbond polypropylene fabric. This internal 3rd layer should be a fabric like Olyfun, Smartfab or Sailrite. These are washable nonwoven spunbond polypropylene. This will offer an extra layer of protection for the recipient. We are not accepting 3 layer masks with a 3rd layer of cotton.

Adults in Nepal are more petite than Americans so we do not need any XL sizes and adjustable ear loops would be ideal to ensure proper fit.

We are collecting 1500 adult masks and 300 children masks.

Elastic ear loops and nose wire required. We encourage the nose wire to be removable and not sewn in. We require nose wire in all masks for persons over the age of 8 years old.

These are the only style of masks we are accepting for this project. Crafting Change will be sending a supply of Halyard or Filti material with the masks to insert in the Filter pocket.
