Care Bags For The Unfortunate
Care Bags for the Unfortunate is a group created and dedicated to assisting in getting needed items and creating Care Bags to homeless and struggling families in need. Their goal is to bring a little relief to those going through hard times.
This is a Facebook group run by dedicated and caring volunteers, they are in the early stages of incorporating and getting their 501(c)3 status and we are proud to partner with them as they begin to establish themselves.

project must-knows
We are helping to craft the care bags and other items that will be used to distribute personal care items through street gives and outreach programs.
1) Pandemic Relief: Masks - Adult masks are accepted in any pattern. We ask that these masks be 3 layers with the 3rd layer non-woven polypropylene (or cotton). Adjustable elastic ear loops are preferred so your donation will fit any head that receives it. The CDC recommends nose wires in all adult masks, as do we. We prefer that these are removable so when they break, they can be replaced. They serve more men than women, however we suggest just using gender neutral fabric that would appeal to anyone.
2) Drawstring Backpacks - Using our pattern for unlined drawstring back packs we hope to provide them 100 bags for their program. These can be made with just about any fabric you have including heavier canvas, upholstery fabric, duck, etc. Please see our project overview sheet for tips and guidelines.
3) Reusable cloth menstrual pads and wet bags - We are only sending medium and heavy absorbency pads and these will be placed inside the wet bags and dispersed in kits for the homeless menstruating persons they encounter. Heavier weight pads allow them to be worn on any day. You will need to apply the Kam-Snaps on these pads since you will be shipping directly to this location. (If you do not have a snap tool. please do not buy one. Send your pads to HQ for Yonkofa and let others take care of this need.) Please see our patterns section for great resources on constructing these pads.
4) Soap Sacks - We are collecting knit and crochet soap sacks for them to distribute with their donated soap.
