- Give Back Box Statement | Crafting Change
Our Statement on Give Back Box What is the issue? Almost 3 years ago we signed up with Give Back Box to help volunteers save money on shipping. In January 2021, Crafting Change noticed that all of the labels on donations coming to HQ had identical tracking numbers. We also realized that all of the labels we printed out to ship our Keep Girls In School Campaign Kits to The Yonkofa Project ALSO had identical tracking numbers. These packages were rejected by our local UPS Store alerting us that it was fraudulent to put the same label on more than one package. This began our dialogue with Monika W, the Founder & CEO of GIve Back Box. Give Back Box Response (or lack thereof) Crafting Change to Give Back Box January 15, 2022 Monika, My 3 packages were rejected today by my local UPS store because all 3 had the same tracking number on them. The owner of the UPS Store said that this was fraudulent and that every single package should have it’s own unique tracking number. As a receiver of Give Back Box shipments for my own nonprofit, Crafting Change, I noticed that all of my parcels have the same tracking number as well. In fact, we have a lost parcel and tried to track it and have been unable to because it shows “delivered” but it was in fact one of these other boxes I received because it had the same tracking number on it. I don’t understand why each shipment doesn’t have it’s own unique tracking number on it? There seems to be one tracking number for all packages to Crafting Change. One tracking number for all packages to The Yonkofa Project, etc. "~Tiffany Herbert Give Back Box to Crafting Change January 17, 2022 Hi! Yes, each box needs a new unique label. It looks like our system error. However I see UPS do charge us for each box, even with duplicate labels. I'm sending you new labels now via UPS email and we will fix this ASAP. Thank you so much and apologize for it. Crafting Change to Give Back Box February 5, 2022 Hi Monika, I just wanted to see if you had progress in identifying this error as I see the labels for my charity are all still coming in with the same tracking number. In fact I just printed out a label to send to someone who wanted to donate items to us and noticed that it shows as “delivered” …. This means it is a duplicate. Tiffany Herbert Crafting Change Give Back Box to Crafting Change February 8, 2022 We received an email reply that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. Crafting Change to Give Back Box February 9, 2022 I replied reiterating the full issue with duplicate labels continuing to happen. Monika, I think we had some miscommunication. You said on 1/17/22 that each box needs a unique label. However all boxes are still getting the identical label/tracking number. That is what I was inquiring about. What I am not clear on is that all labels coming to Crafting Change have the same tracking number. All the labels going to The Yonkofa Project have the same tracking number. This does not seem right as there is no way to track them. I understand you are being billed for the labels, but you said that this was a glitch in your system you were working out, but it is still occurring. I noticed after you and I talked that the labels now have a new tracking number than they did in January, but it is a “new” duplicate one. Our charity is getting donations, which is amazing and I am grateful, I just am concerned because having the same tracking number on all of these packages, as you said in your initial email, is not correct but is still occurring. I was just inquiring when you thought it might be fixed? I, as a donor who loves to use Give Back Box to other charities, have the issue that my UPS store will not accept boxes with identical tracking numbers on them. If I want to donate to XYZ charity and print out 2 labels with the same tracking number and take them to my local UPS store, they won’t take them. It is also an issue, because when someone prints out the label, the tracking number is useless as it will show that their package has already been delivered even though it is sitting in their hands because the tracking number is being used over and over again,it is impossible to track a package. I so appreciate your attention to this, I just want to understand when Give Back Box will be fixing this glitch in your system that is causing the same label/tracking number to be used for all packages to each charity. it clearly is not your intention and not what has happened since you started in 2012. I’m sure your IT department can identify what is going on and get it fixed so everyone is getting the correct labels they have paid for. ~Tiffany Give Back Box to Crafting Change February 10, 2022 I will look into this and get back to you. End of Emails Information is POWER! WARNING: USE GIVE BACK BOX AT YOUR OWN RISK. Crafting Change does not have any affiliation nor do we endorse or support using them. However, we are keeping them up as a cost-saving option. If you jump through the hoops successfully you will get he fresh label and it will be valid, trackable and recognized by UPS. But it will not be without frustration. Please be aware that we have no ability to help in getting you your labels any faster. We are not responsible for nor do we have control over lost/destroyed packages. What goes wrong? Everyone who purchases that charity's label receives the exact same label with the exact same tracking number. Give Back Box has told us that this is a "glitch" in their system. This "glitch" has been going on now for over 2 years. If you use the first label you are sent, it 100% has a used tracking number and YOUR BOX WILL LIKELY NOT ARRIVE AT IT'S DESTINATION. We have reports of 3 volunteers whose packages have been lost or destroyed by UPS. Crafting Change as well as many of our partner charities are partnered with Give Back Box to purchase a $20 UPS label. You can ship a box 50 pounds and 108" in girth. With all of the difficulties, if you follow the below outlined procedures, you can get a usable, trackable label for your shipment. CRITICAL INFORMATION ON HOW TO USE GBB: After you make your purchase and you receive your email with your download, please immediately forward that email to Monika info@givebackbox.com Write: "Can I please have a fresh label with an unused tracking number? Thank you." DO NOT USE THE LABEL IN THAT DOWNLOAD WITH YOUR INITIAL PURCHASE it is FRAUDULENT. You may have to email Monika multiple times to get your valid label. I advise emailing her every 2-3 days until she responds. (People have been waiting up to 4 weeks for a label as of 9/15/24) You will get an email from Monika saying Yes and a 2nd email direct from UPS saying "Your Return Label is ready." That is the label you use to ship. You have jumped over all the hurdles, print your new label, track your package and cheer when it arrives! LGBTQIA+ youth living on the streets are trying to blend in. They have been thrown out of their homes for their sexuality or gender identity. - The Keep Girls In School Campaign | Crafting Change
the keep girls in school campaign We are proud to partner with The Yonkofa Project for The Keep Girls In School Campaign to help provide reusable cloth menstrual pads to junior high school girls in rural western Ghana. According to UNICEF, 95% of girls in this region miss school the week of their period due to lack of access to period products and many drop out all together. On a recent trip to this area of Ghana with The Yonkofa Project in September 2021 our Executive Director, Tiffany Herbert, had the privilege to speak to the Headmistresses from several local schools as well as the local Doctor about how our menstrual kits will impact their Village. She also had the great honor of visiting 3 local schools and meeting with classrooms of girls to talk about these kits and demonstrate how they work. what supplies do you need? Ready to start sewing? Patrice, the Founder of Raising Hope For Others, took her grief and turned it into this project. His giving spirit and compassion for all is reflected in their comfort bags. The charitable bags are given for free to anyone in need of comfort. This serves a local need, bringing neighbors together to support each other during trying times.
