this is how it works
The mission of Each Stitch Counts is to alleviate hygiene insecurity by providing food pantries with dish and laundry detergent. Containers of dish detergent include a handmade dishcloth donated by crafter volunteers. Households dealing with food insecurity often deal with hygiene insecurity. They reach this community by supplying these products.

Quantity Still Needed
We have partnered with Each Stitch Counts to help bring awareness to the issue of hygiene insecurity. People facing poverty are not allowed to use their food stamp benefits to purchase personal hygiene products like shampoo, soap, tampons or household hygiene products like laundry or dish soap with their monthly benefits. Food pantries often don’t have these items either. These items provide dignity. Each Stitch Counts encourages you to donate your dishcloths along with dish soap to your local food pantry. However, if you prefer, you can ship donations to their HQ in New Jersey. They are currently supporting 4 food pantries in their local area on a monthly basis and need 50-100 dishcloths per month.
1) Crochet and Knit Dish Cloths - any pattern accepted, typically 8"x8" made from cotton yarn. We have provided some suggested patterns, but feel free to use any pattern you like. This project is only for handmade knit and crochet dishcloths.

Dishcloths are terrific projects when you want to practice new stitch techniques, play with color changes, and explore how various ideas work in combination with one another.
You are encouraged to donate your dish cloths locally to a food pantry near you along with a bottle of dish soap! However, Each Stitch Counts gladly accepts donations of your handiwork, please ship your dish cloths to:
