project must-knows
How we are helping:
1) Fiddlers- These small hand-held pillows with a small item placed inside will be used during in patient therapy sessions to help kids "fiddle" appropriately so they can participate.
2) Blankets - We are helping them create blankets for the children's inpatient unit of their facility. These blankets will comfort the children while they are dealing with their mental health issues and away from their families. Please read our Blanket Project Overview Sheet for the important information on the requirements for the blankets they want. These can ONLY be sewn. Inpatients can not receive items that are knit/crochet.
3) Tote Bags & Backpacks - They need bags to give to adults and children patients when they are discharged from an inpatient hospital stay. They often have to leave the hospital with items in a paper bag and return to the streets or foster homes with their items. These bags will provide dignity and also provide them something to use long-term. Check out our backpack project overview sheet for constructing bags or backpacks for MHRC. Tote bags are for children leaving the inpatient program and backpacks are for adults on their street outreach.
4) Warm Winter Items: They are in need of Adult and Teen sizes. Ages 14+
Hats, Earwarmers/Headbands, scarves, and gloves/mittens (can be full or fingerless).
